|Death by Chocolate Cake|
8 oz dark semisweet chocolate
2/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
6 3/4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 tablespoons sour cream
3 tablespoons rum
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Line the bottom of a circular 10 inch cake pan with parchment.
Heat the semisweet chocolate, butter, and rum in a double-boiler
until melted. Stir until smooth.
Beat the eggs with sugar, mix with flour, cocoa powder, baking
powder and vanilla extract.
Slowly fold in the melted butter, chocolate and sour cream.
Bake at 350 F until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes
out clean, approximately 50 minutes.
Cool the cake. Remove the crusted surface on the top of the cake,
and cut in half horizontally to make tw layers.
Frost top of one half, add second half and frost the top and sides.
Decorate as desired and serve at room temperature.
